Engine building clean room
This, as the name suggests, is a dedicated engine
building room into which the components of an engine are
taken only after all machining and modifications have
been completed and they have been finally cleaned for
the last
 time. It has its own tool boards which are
dedicated to engine building only and are not allowed
out of the clean room.. The engine builder is required
to change into overalls which are used and cleaned only
for use in this room. The engine builder is required to
either wash his hands thoroughly each time he enters
this room, or wear disposable latex gloves. No member of
the workshop is allowed into this room wearing his
workshop overalls. No member of the public is allowed
into this room without the permission of and accompanied
by Paul Austin.
These
strict procedures are enforced to ensure that no dirt
can contaminate an engine while it is being assembled. There are windows in the clean room
which you are more than welcome to view through whenever
you please - we have no secrets. We are proud of our
standards and developed modifications. (see “tips &

Engine Stripping “Dirty” room
This is where the engines are taken for stripping right
down to the last  component
and inspected prior to a report being made to the owner
regarding recommendations for the re-build. It has its
own tool boards which are used only for stripping
engines in this room. Whilst workshop staff or visitors
are welcome to come and go into this room as they wish,
(except, for safety reasons when pneumatic tools are
being used), we would remind you that this room also has
viewing windows, and some engines are received in a very
dirty condition.
Please be careful not to mark your clothes if you do
venture in to this room.
